Steps to set up your ASUS RT AC88U as a repeater mode
- Open a browser and enter www.router.asus.com as the URL of the browser. While facing any error you also could mention the IP address of the ASUS router as the URL of the browser to get to the default page of the router. The IP address of the ASUS router is 192.168.1.1
- If it’s the first time, you are interacting with the User’s interface, you will be redirected to the Quick Internet setup page. If it’s not the first time you need to mention the login credential to get to the main web page of the router.
- Click on the Sign-in tab after mentioning the correct credentials within their respective fields.
- Go to the “Advanced Settings” tab then click on the choose operation mode then locate the Repeater mode in that window. As soon as you find it, click on it.
- The router will start finding the Wi-Fi signals available nearby.
- Choose the Wi-Fi Name of your device and click on it.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password on the Network Key field then click on the Next tab locating below the Network Key field.
- Choose the “Automatic IP” option as it will help the user to automatically assign an IP address to the Repeater Mode network. If the user chooses the second option i.e manually, then the user himself has to assign an IP address to the network.
- Click on the Apply tab.
- If you are setting up a repeater mode for the first time, you need to assign a username and password to prevent the unauthorized entry of anonymous users.
- After assigning the username and password, click on the Next tab.
- Configuration of Repeater mode settings is finished. You can utilize the Device Discovery feature to connect to your device and also to check the status of your connection.
Note: The password and the username you will assign should be strong enough to prevent the entry of unwanted users. Enabling the Repeater mode will disable the firewall and other protection from your ASUS RT AC88U router.
